Do you all have traditions for Valentine's Day? Spencer and I really don't. In college, he always sent me flowers (because we were long distance), and I kept them in Nalgene bottles because I was poor and didn't have a vase. Another year he gave me three cactus plants, and I hated them so he kept them until we were married and I made him throw them away :)
I would love to buy a fancy dress, and go out to dinner downtown. Even better, how romantic would it be to go on a getaway to New York City and go to the top of the Empire State Building like in Sleepless in Seattle (or Gossip Girl. But Blair and Chuck will never have the romance that Sam and Annie had)? I wonder if that is one of their busiest nights as a tourist attraction. Hm.
How gorgeous are these dresses? Which one would you pick? Do you have any big plans or cool stories from Valentine's Day?
1. kate spade new york 'normandy' dress
2. BB Dakota Morrow Lace Dress
3. Sequined Jacquard Dress
4. Paisley Scroll Dress

I love number 4! It reminds me of a dress from the 20s with the sheer neck and sleeves. We don't do much for Valentine's day since the hubby is in the Air Force and almost never home for it. He does send me flowers no matter where he is though which after 10 years is super sweet!
ReplyDeleteOh, bummer that he isn't usually home but that is so sweet that he sends you flowers! Thanks for the awesome comment! And I thought the same thing about the black dress (#4) - it looks like Downton Abbey.
DeleteYou know, Valentine's Day IS probably a really busy day at the Empire State Building. But, I would still totally do it!
ReplyDeleteWe don't really celebrate Valentine's Day - because we get to celebrate our anniversary on Feb. 4 and always go out for a fancy dinner before the holiday crowd... We have our reservations made, and these dresses would be just as perfect for our own day o' love :) #4 is my favorite too.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome, Happy Anniversary!
DeleteHello Anne!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day eiter, I feel it's very commercialised, but we do tend to celebrate on the 13th of every month if we get a chance. We got together on a Friday 13th so we like to celebrate then. I feel like for a lot of people (not saying it is for everybody though!!!!) this celebration is a reminder that we need to be nice to our other half and make them feel loved and cherished (which is a good thing) but personally whenever my boyfriend and I feel disconnected we try to spend time together reconnnecting and so don't feel the need to do it during this particular holiday. I believe that it's particularly celebrated in the States though isn't it? I'm from the UK, but living in France and the moment and whilst it's celebrated here I get the impression that it's not as big as in the USA.
Take care,
Bella
