bold + bright / my style

Yesterday, I went on a pinning spree and I decided to take a closer look at my boards and what I've been pinning for the last few months. I was immediately reminded of Bri's comment about her own pinterest boards, that they almost make her teary eyed because she can see so much of herself in them. Our personal style is always a journey, but I began asking myself, do I see myself in these boards? Does the images represented here scream out "ANNE!" or are they merely copies of others I admire?

I weeded out a few images, but for the most part, I was happy to find that I do see a lot of myself in these inspiration boards

As a Colorado girl through and through, I am immediately drawn to naturalistic, simple style. I love neutral tones and clean lines. As an artist, I am a lover of bold statements, patterns, colors and shapes. I also love bright lipsticks and pops of color. When I went to school in New England, I donned a lot of sporty, preppy pieces, but a lot of those have been given away since graduation. I have to remind myself that it's okay to try new things! So I went through a nautical, rugby, Ralph Lauren phase! Who cares? I will always love j.crew, too.

Head on over to Pinterest to check out my boards! My favorites right now are: style, at home, and nom + nosh.

  1. I think thats a great idea to go back and make sure that your boards reflect your own personal style and not other people. I know when I first started using pinterest I was clicking on everything and anything just cause I was so excited.
Love your style by the way.

  2. I love this!! I was already thinking it's time to clean out my Pinterest boards, because it's hard to keep track of the stuff you love when you've got a zillion pins, but I really need to do this too. I feel like I'm finally zeroing in on my own style and learning to define it, and being a bit more intentional about it even in the Pinterest world I think will be quite helpful as I do a little fall shopping and plan a kitchen update project....
