our wedding / the photo sesh

We decided to take the majority of the photos before the ceremony so that we could have the most time to hang out with our guests at the reception as we could get. We wanted to capture the essence of our family's homes with the historic character of the town where we grew up. With about 30 people in all, Mikel and Joel wrangled us around town, taking hundreds and hundreds of pictures.

 First look.

Spencer and I really wanted to support local business when planning out our wedding. Our florist, Sarah Cioni, did an amazing job! Her shop Painted Primrose in Boulder is truly a gem in this area. She combined roses, dahlias and succulents for the bouquets and fresh herbs for the boutonnieres to help us achieve the feel of Colorado in our design. Thank you, Sarah!

I wanted the girls to feel comfortable and show of their own personal sense of style during the wedding. To help with the creativity, I created a palette of colors that they could choose from when searching for their own dress. Didn't it turn out wonderfully? Most of the girls went to J.Crew, but there were a few others thrown into the mix.

The guys wore J.Crew vests and suit pants, and different Ben Sherman ties to give a little character and individuality to their outfits, as well. All in all, the style and look turned out exactly how I envisioned it.

Although some people's shoes weren't broken in... :)

  1. Absolutely gorgeous! I love your dress, hair, red lips. And the caboose photo location - how fun!

We did photos before the ceremony too for the same reason and were happy with that choice. Plus after going to a bunch of weddings, I think it's way more fun when the reception festivities can just get started :)
